It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we welcome you to the second annual Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua – a weekend celebration of the birds at Mono Lake.

It is our mission to enhance appreciation and understanding of the Mono Basin's diverse and abundant bird life and to educate the public about this area's value to birds and people.

What better way to do this than to attend the Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua!

The Mono Basin is known worldwide for its immense populations of migratory and nesting birds. In fact, Mono Lake is a Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) site and was just recently designated a globally significant Important Bird Area (IBA) by both the American Bird Conservancy and the National Audubon Society.

The natural beauty of this area and its diverse bird life will provide the ideal backdrop for the Second Annual Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua. Through the course of this festival, we hope to show you the connection between the birds and people.
